The word "Gedenke" is a very old, German word not used much anymore. It means "Remember" your history or your past.

The Directors of the Chamber deeply regret the load music and the language used by the musician and would like to apoligze to everyone. We will discuss at out next meeting the comments and decide if we will invite this musician back. Again we are very sorry for this action by the entertainer.

Let me start this letter of by saying a GREAT BIG WOW!!! I thought the Gedenke this year was great!

I know a lot of hard work and dedication went into planning all the events. We had a really good crowd, (which I’m sure would have been better if there weren’t any baseball or softball games going on.) and it looked to me like everyone was having fun. I had a booth set up by the pavilion with some of my friends and we got to see a lot of activities around us. The “bull” looked to be the highlight this year. I really liked how everything was arranged with the booths on the corner of Center and Market, especially because that’s where I live! With that being said, I know sometimes we have trouble with trash or cans lying around after everything is over, but because it only happens once a year it doesn’t bother me.

My only complaint would be for the music to last longer then 12:00 on Saturday. I’m sure it was done to clear the streets sooner, but it just didn’t seem right!

Hopefully the Gedenke will continue to grow and more activities and booths will be offered. I’m looking forward to seeing what next year brings.
