Health Services

The Medical and healthcare needs of Weimar and the surrounding communities are provided by Colorado-Fayette Medical Center. The organization is a private non-profit 501 (C) (3) corporation consisting of: the Medical Center, a 38 bed, acute-care hospital; Parkview Manor Nursing home, a 100-bed long-term care facility; CFMC Outpatient Center, a physical therapy & rehabilitation center; The HomeStead Assisted Living, a 12 unit, “Type B” facility; and Schulenburg Community Clinic and Flatonia Community Clinic, hospital-based rural healthcare clinics.

The hospital operates a swing-bed unit and a Home Health Agency, which serves a broad geographical area.

There are more than 40 physicians and surgeons (active, courtesy and consulting) on the medical staff of the hospital. A fourth of those live in and around the greater Weimar area.

The Colorado-Fayette Medical Center you see today, evolved from a hospital started in December of 1942, by physician brothers, Dr. W.G. Youens, Jr. and Dr. W.T. Youens. The hospital was named Youens Hospital in honor of Dr. W.G. Youens, Sr. who was a pioneer physician in Colorado County in the early 1900’s.

The hospital prospered over the years and became a non-profit corporation in 1966 with the advent of the Medicare program. In the early 1980’s a decision was made to build a replacement facility which was completed in 1986. At that time, the name of the hospital was changed from Youens Hospital to Colorado-Fayette Medical Center.

In 1993, the hospital acquired Parkview Manor Nursing Home from the Itasca Hill McCormick Foundation.

Colorado-Fayette Medical Center and its associated organizations now employ more than 200 employees, making it one of the largest employers in Weimar and the surrounding areas.
