Established in 1888 and destroyed by a storm six months after completion, it was replaced in 1914 with its conservative Gothic style interior and is on the State Historical Register.

St. Michael and its 144 - foot spire dominate the skyline for miles around. Its vaulted ceiling, handsome stained glass windows and Gothic Revival style reflect the Central European roots of many of Weimar's first settlers. St. Michael's school has the only functioning two-story wooden schoolhouse left in Texas. St. Michael's Catholic Church, established in 1888, was destroyed by a storm six months after completion; present building with its conservative Gothic style interior was built in 1914. On State Historical Register.

This church was organized in the Summer of 1900. In the beginning, it was the Evangelical Lutheran Church Congregation. All the minutes up to 1930 were written in German. In 1934, the Evangelical Synod of North America and the Reformed Church in the United States had merged into the Evangelicl & Reformed Church. On January 12, 1953, at regular Church Council meeting, a committee of two was appointed to go to Austin to get a new charter for the church, changing the name to the Evangelical & Reformed Church of Weimar. In 1940, the name was changed to the Evangelical Lutheran Church. After 17 years of negotiations, in 1957, the Evangelical & Reformed Church in the U.S. and the Congregational-Christian Church in the U.S. merged, forming the United Church of Christ.
